F.A. Davis
Proposal for Video Production Services
Thank you for the opportunity to bid on F.A. Davis’ video production project. Enclosed, you will find details covering all facets of our proposed budget, timeframe, creative approach, and technical strategy.
With experience overseeing a range of productions, from Emmy award-winning educational programming for National Geographic to Telly award-recognized commercials, Philamedia is well-equipped to fulfill every creative aspiration envisioned by the team at F.A. Davis.
Introduction
Relevant Work
With over a decade of experience under our belts, Philamedia and its team of award-winning filmmakers have served clients across the city, country, and globe. Trusted by businesses like Virtua Health, Temple University, and Planet Fitness, we consistently deliver on our promises with transparent budgets.
We possess a unique adaptability whether we’re crafting flashy, big-budget commercials for clients like Penn Medicine, or conducting intimate and sensitive interviews on deeply personal subjects. Our key to success in every project lies in our ability to listen to our clients, and translate their needs onto the screen with precision and creativity.
Letter of Recommendation
“I have worked with several film and media companies in the past, and I found Philamedia far above and beyond their competitors.”
- KAREN ALEXANDER PhD, RN

Our recent collaboration with Friends Research Institute exemplifies the challenge and reward of smaller productions. Tasked with reaching a highly specific demographic—African-American women over 40 caring for loved ones with HIV/AIDS—we worked closely with FRI to breathe life into their well-researched scripts.
Through meticulous planning and community engagement, we went beyond conventional casting, ensuring authenticity by featuring individuals from the target audience who shared their inspiring stories.
Our Work with FRI
During the pre-production phase, Philamedia’s creative team will collaborate closely with F.A. Davis to craft a filming approach that stays true to the project's vision. For instance, one approach could involve employing a first-person point of view dolly shot, enhancing viewers' immersion in the decision-making process within the modules.
For the shoot itself, we'll be employing a three-camera setup. This configuration ensures a dynamic range of angles, fostering a sense of intimacy and empathy between the students and the patients on screen. We believe three cameras is the sweet spot to optimize value, maintain a smooth flow, and allow for maximum flexibility during production and post-production.
Post-production will begin alongside principal photography. Dailies will be transmitted to our offsite editors in real-time, making the footage available for client review and feedback immediately.
Tech Mumbo Jumbo
We shoot on high-spec camera bodies with cinema-grade lenses, and deliver final cuts in 4K resolution or higher. Shooting on these bodies and lenses mean the footage will be evergreen, and its high quality will be retained for years to come. We can hand over final deliverables in any format/codec that’s needed. During the shoot, we are also capable of providing a Blackmagic Camera-to-Cloud uplink if the location’s network connectivity allows.
Two Good Location Options
We have established relationships with a teaching hospital, and many studio spaces in Philadelphia. With the teaching hospital, we would have access to the amenities and resources of a traditional medical training facility. And in a studio environment, we could custom build a more modern, uniform look that fits our needs. Additionally, we can fully design and control ambient lighting where we wouldn’t be fighting the changing sunlight throughout the day, having to make constant lighting adjustments. Not only would this keep production speedy, but it would keep finishing costs in post-production much lower, with fewer adjustments needed.
This budget reflects a studio-based production, however there is only a 1-2% cost difference between the two.

Have less budget to spend? More wiggle room?
Let us know! We’ll walk through the line items and show you how best to scale up or down the production.
⦿ Traditional Casting
While we would try our best to cast Standardized Patients, we also have a deep network of cast and casting agents to source talent from.
⦿ Locations Options
We’re prepared to utilize a teaching hospital or build a set appropriate to the space. As we discuss further, we could identify which is more appropriate. However, we believe filming in a studio would be the best environment.
⦿ Remote Client Reviewing
Our workflow is enabled to upload dailies same-day (and with the right location circumstances, footage can be streamed) for client review.
⦻ Out-of-House Rental Gear!
We can save an enormous amount of money by using only equipment that Philamedia has in-house. Besides lensing, we own and maintain everything we’d need to run an efficient, high-spec production.
⦻ Storyboarding
We don’t recommend storyboarding this project. Shot lists and script supervisors may be employed to keep things organized, but we feel that storyboarding would be redundant, subject to change, and inflate cost unnecessarily.
⦻ Talent Auditioning
Talent auditioning can be a massive cost for projects like this. Instead, we’d request talent self-tapes which are sufficient to learn actors’ abilities and would come at no cost to F.A. Davis.
Cost Per Minute of Finished Video
On average, commercial video and training content costs between $1,500-10,000 per minute of finished content. This budget maintains a very low per-minute cost, despite being in healthcare- a traditionally high-cost production field.
